I was using Pandora before - I think that was about a year and a half ago. I tried using it down here, but it won't work because they don't have access to IPs within Chile. Last.fm can integrate with Pandora (Pandora will send it's list of recommended tracks to last.fm, which will use them to make better suggestions.... hypothetically) so I'm looking forward to trying that out when I get home.

Last.fm... sorry, haven't used it. But Pandora seems to do a pretty good job of playing similar artists to the stations that you set up.

I'll be doing a 2-day whirlwind tour of everyone I feel like I should see in MN on the 27-28... days will likely be occupied by family, but I may be up for a nighttime something-or-other...

El Anexo was nice - it's a little bit off the beaten path, but it's an interesting little hostel. The owner is very nice and is glad to help out with whatever you need. The showers are a little iffy at times, and it gets freezing cold in the winter (when we were there) so be prepared for that. Otherwise, the half of our group that ended up staying there was glad that we did, and we had a better time than the half that stayed on the other end of town in a more "respectable" hostel.

Sorry no comment, but a question. You seemed to have enjoyed your stay at EL ANEXO in San Pedro de Atacama. I am tempted to book there.
Is it clean?
Rooms simple but beds OK?
Not too far out of town?

I don't know where this goes but may I have a return reply? Thks

The water's actually pretty good bottled, which is good, because that's how I'll be drinking it for the next six months. Absolutely everything here comes in a glass bottle, which would be good if I were a proper, street-fighting man.

Yay, you made it in one piece!

Re: the water -- is it also warm? Because that's how it is in Europe ... a) it costs money; b) they think you're weird for wanting uncarbonated water; and c) it's warm.

Beware of lukewarm milk, as well.
